STEM Focused Learning: A Faction for Science Fiction in Science

Looking to support students' literacy skills while learning science? This Community of Practice is for educators interested in exploring the many reasons why science fiction can play a positive role in their classes and examining examples of how they have used it to enhance students' understanding of science concepts. You do not need to have ever read a piece of science fiction to join this group; it is composed of people who are looking to further promote students' literacy in science by improving their language skills.

We will learn from one another. Each community member comes with knowledge, skills, and attitudes that their prior experiences have shaped. Each voice and story holds importance, and so everyone is welcome to share their personal experiences; however, none are required to do so.

What is a Virtual Community of Practice?

Virtual Communities of Practice connect educators across the country around topics of shared interest, fostering a culture of continuous growth that enriches educators’ professional practice and students’ learning experiences. It empowers educators by promoting innovation and continuous growth.

Connected Community Hub: STEM Focused Learning

When you register for this Virtual Community of Practice, you will also be enrolled in the broader Connected Community Hub network for STEM Focused Learning. This space brings together Communities of Practice along a shared pathway, offering a structured environment for ongoing professional learning, innovative idea exchange, and collective problem-solving.
